Bitter Sugar (Zucchero amaro) è una vibrante coreografia che riunisce una fisicità dominante ad un interesse per la sensualità e l’umorismo, ponendo la salsa al centro della scena. Balletto contemporaneo e cultura latinoamericana si scontrano e infuocano contemporaneamente, trasportati dalla voce della cantante cubana La Lupe.

La coreografia fa uso di alcune delle sue canzoni più celebri facendo riferimento al feroce mondo di questa artista, famosa per le sue esibizioni governate da istinto ed estasi.

Bitter Sugar is a vibrant choreography that combines dominant physicality with a flare for sexiness and humor as salsa takes center stage. Contemporary ballet and Latin American culture collide and fiery together, anchored by the voice of Cuban singer La Lupe.

The performance features some of her famous songs and makes references to the fierce world of this artist, famous for ther performances ruled by instinct and ecstasy.

Il personale e contemporaneo Bitter Sugar di Mauro de Candia ha concluso la serata come un dolce indulgente. Ballato da quasi tutta la compagnia su brani della regina cubana di salsa La Lupe, vestiti con pantaloni neri simili a quelli del merengue e sommersi da un mare di coriandoli vorticosi, la coreografia accosta salsa a parodia e teatro, per poi rimetterli insieme con grande senso dell’umorismo. Chi ha detto che i ballerini non possono danzare la salsa?

Mauro de Candia's distinctively contemporary Bitter Sugar closed the program like an indulgent dessert. Danced by almost the entire company to songs of the Cuban queen of salsa, La Lupe, in black plastic genie-like pants amidst a sea of swirling confetti, the choreography juxtaposed salsa with parody and theater, then putting them back together again with a great sense of humor. Who said that ballet dancers can't salsa?
